The investigation of the "Quartier Nord" in Brussels fits in a huge program of reconstitution off the urban tissue. This neighborhood includes different types of occupations divided in two poles : one of building-tours and one of living houses. Waste lands act as buffer spaces between this two poles.

Both of the two following projects integrate themself in these buffer spaces in order to recompose continuity in one hand and new identity in the other hand.

The continuity is found by inserting mixed buildings in open blocks recomposing the skyline constituted with the height of the towers on one side and the low houses on the other.

The aim is to obtain a progression in the density and in the height of the buildings and so in the diversity of the functions. Indeed, open-blocks buildings combining some commercials functions on ground level and living spaces on the floors are necessary for the everlastingness of the neighborhood.

Skate-Parc

The identity of a place will be only founded on the strong expression of the vitality of the neighborhood's inhabitants and even of the common city's inhabitants.

Tha's why it is important to create a new attraction pole through an original function and architecture. The function is fulfilled by the implantation of a sport and leisure space composed with a Skate Parc, a multiple purpose space and a Cybertheater. All of this shelter under the force of a structure expressed by the compound shape of a double spiral spreading their wings. This double spiral, representing the path of the yin-yang's median line, polarize and balance the opposite streaming spreading horizontally between the offices' buildings and the living's buildings in order to render more dynamic the place at the ground level and reinforce his identity.
